Happy new year!
We are a month in now, and I hope you have abandoned only a small portion of the habits that you kicked off at the start of the year.
2024 for me rolled in rather quietly like a fog; in the company of cats and random number generators. There are several ideas floating around on how to approach my ever-growing pile of unfinished music in the new year, but I haven’t made any decisions just yet.
My friends participated in the Genuary (#genuary), a world-wide celebration of generative art where artists use generative tools to make visuals every day of January based on a prompt. Turns out, a lot of Reckoner music fit quite well with these generations.
This includes a series of short videos by Casta Zhu / @kastakila_, using some of the older tracks like “Eight Days Of The Corpse Flower”, “Sprpklsm” and “Red Spiders Cometh”.
Torin Blankensmith / @blankensmithing also made 2 videos featuring Reckoner tracks - a recent “rotterdam-2” jam session from the Reckoner Library and “Doomscroll (lockdown version)”.
All the videos are linked at the end of this email for you to enjoy.
Both Torin and Casta are incredibly talented artists and a mainstay in Brooklyn’s generative art scene. These collaborations were gratifying and we might get together again very soon to work on something else.
